ok, so you know that cake i made yesterday? the one that i didn’t know how it was going to turn out? well, it was eaten today and i managed to get some photos of it before it all disappeared …
i’m so pleased with it. i know it’s not completely amazing, like the leprechaun cake on not martha‘s blog, but i’m pleased with my attempt at it. it tasted great, it definitely resembled a rainbow, all of my family enjoyed it – and daniel completely loved it. i have a lot more very much messier photos of how much he enjoyed it. and that’s all that’s important to me.
birthday cake #1 = success 🙂
celebrating 1st birthdays is exhausting work! i’m off to bed – i may share some photos of his birthday tomorrow. it was a good day 🙂
Hi Danielle, your cake looks great! The skittles worked really well to add a hint of the colour of the cake inside. I recently attempted to make the rainbow cake following Megan’s instructions as well. It didn’t turn out nearly as good as hers but still resembled a rainbow. If you have time I’d love to know what you think! http://spongedrop.blogspot.com/2011/06/rainbow-cake-happy-birthday-e.html
Thanks Danielle! I added the skittles mainly as a decoration, not sure how they’d actually taste with the sponge and vanilla frosting, but I thought they were a super tasty addition to the palate 🙂
